How do I help the California coast when I buy a plate?

For every ecoplate you buy for yourself, a family member, or a friend, the DMV distributes funds to the California Coastal Commission, the California Coastal Conservancy, and to the state Environmental License Plate Fund for environmental projects. For example, if you order the standard Coastal Commission Whale Tail plate, the DMV distributes $15 to the Coastal Commission and Conservancy, plus another $15 to the environmental fund. Each time you renew, the DMV distributes the entire amount of your renewal fee.
