When you buy a Whale Tail plate your dollar directly benefits the coast and our connection to it. The DMV distributes funds to support the California Coastal Commission, the State Coastal Conservancy, and the California State Environmental License Plate Fund. In turn, they support:
California Coastal Cleanup Day (CCD)
On CCD 2010, 80,300 volunteers collected over 1,100,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from California beaches, lakes, and waterways. CCD 2011 is September 17th.
Coastal Access and Recreation
Coastal access trails and wheelchair accessible paths make it easier for all of us to enjoy the ocean.
Adopt A Beach Program
We’ve helped over 200 groups (schools, businesses, scout troops, clubs) to adopt a beach and commit to clean it three times a year.
Other Education, Protection, and Restoration Efforts
An array of programs that inspire kids and adults to value and take care of our precious coastline.
